१३.१९ Sanskrit: प्रकृतिं पुरुषं चैव विद्ध्यनादी उभावपि । विकारान्श्च गुणांश्चैव विद्धि प्रकृतिसम्भवान् ॥१९॥

Hindi: प्रकृति (जड़) और पुरुष (आत्मा)—इन दोनों को ही अनादि जान। तथा राग-द्वेष आदि विकारों को और सत्त्व, रज, तम गुणों को भी प्रकृति से उत्पन्न जान।

English: Know that Prakriti (Nature) and Purusha (Spirit) are both beginningless. And know also that modifications and the Gunas are born of Prakriti.

English: The Purusha, abiding in Prakriti, experiences the Gunas born of Prakriti. Attachment to the Gunas is the cause of its birth in good or evil wombs.

English: Others again, not knowing thus, worship by hearing from others. They, too, who are devoted to hearing, verily cross beyond death.

English: Because he sees the Lord abiding equally everywhere, he does not injure the Self by the self, and thereby he attains the supreme goal.

English: As the all-pervading space, being subtle, is not tainted, so the Self, though present everywhere in the body, is not tainted.

English: Those who, with the eye of knowledge, perceive this distinction between the field and the knower of the field, and also the liberation from the nature of beings, they go to the Supreme.
